Perpetual Interment Right and Pre-need
Purchase of an interment right at Oberon Council cemeteries is available to families at time of need. An interment right entitles the person/s to whom it is granted an exclusive entitlement to bury the remains of a deceased person at the interment site/burial plot. All interment rights are sold in perpetuity.
Pre-need:
Pre-need. The circumstances when a person needs a burial site or a place for ashes at a future date. This usually means that no-one has recently passed away.
Interment
Council's Technical Services staff work with Funeral Directors in organising burials. Funeral services are usually held between 9am and 3pm weekdays. Weekday funeral services outside of 9am and 3pm, weekends and Public/Council Holidays attract additional fees.
Single/Double Depth Graves - Cemetery Staff are responsible for grave preparation and back filling of the grave once the funeral service has finished.
Each burial plot may receive a maximum of two (2) physical interments and up to two (2) sets of ashes. Graves can usually be dug to accommodate two physical interments, however occasionally due to rock or stability issues not evident prior to commencement of preparation of the grave, ground conditions may not allow for or achieve double depth.
